We are excited to present the 2011 Fall Newsletter. Beginning with this issue, we hope you enjoy the changes that you will see in the semi-annual newsletter. In an effort to make the SER newsletters of more value to the SER membership, we will be introducing several changes in the next few issues. In this issue:
Emerging Scholars Initiative - Read Andy Olshan’s and Bernard Harlow's article on how SER will attempt to address this gap and serve this section of our Membership.
History of SER - J. Lynn Lyon provides some historical information about the organization and how it has changed in the 43 years since its inception.
Inside Peek - in a new feature, Drs. Mary Haan and Noel Weiss answer questions - both personal and professional.
Social Media - SER will be launching several new initiatives in the Social Media arena. Read Ann Geiger’s and Stella Aslibekyan’s article outlining these initiatives.
Web Meeting - Abdulrahman El Sayed will update us on the success of our first annual Web Meeting, held Nov 5.

As we continue to expand the content of the SER newsletters, here are a few items under consideration:
- Member updates: We want to hear from you! If you have received an award or prize, please email editor@epiresearch.org.
- Letters to the Editor - if you have information to share, you can email editor@epiresearch.org, the subject of the email should be 'Letter to the Editor'
- Member Highlights - each newsletter, we will choose 2 or 3 members of SER to spotlight
- More frequent issues - under consideration is the possibility of going from two issues a year to four.
